A Monarch Challenge Update - April 2024
We are grateful to share that this year was our Movement's single biggest impact year to date. This is largely due to the first customers who bought, used and promoted Monarch Tractor, the all-electric, driver-optional tractor born out of this exact Challenge some 5 years ago. 2023 marked Monarch Tractor's first year in farms, and the results have been incredible to witness. Monarch Tractor farmers touched over 16,000 acres of farmland, offsetting 455 tons of Co2 emissions. We can’t say enough about the heart and soul of the farmers who made this leap and joined the Monarch Tractor movement. Thank you. Along with that, we have also seen farms in Napa, Sonoma and across the country and world move away from harmful herbicides.
Meanwhile, the Monarch overwintering population count was down compared to the 2021 and 2022 numbers collected by the Xerces Society. They remain endangered, and are a lighthouse to follow in this global storm that is threatening all of our planet's biodiversity. Some recent data shares that since the year 2000, 70% of our planet's insect biomass have disappeared and with it, 50% of our planet's bird population. This study alone is terrifying, and is exactly why our work together is so important. Despite this, we remain optimistic for a future of a renewably powered, chemical-free era of farming.
We produce this special rosé bottling each year to support the Monarch Challenge Movement, and it truly is a team effort. For that, we extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our fellow Activists and Partners who helped make this possible. Our shared goal is to enlighten, encourage and connect our communities to farm and live in unison with nature and give back to the delicate circle of life that enables us to live prosperously. We have made great progress since the Challenge's beginning, but there is still much work to be done. We are grateful for your support, and we hope you will enjoy this rosé, a beautiful wine that allows us to contribute to this greater cause.
With gratitude and hope,
